IRIS Optronics and Top International Biotech Celebrate Taichung Veterans General Hospital's 42nd Anniversary
Leveraging Full-Color Cholesterol Liquid Crystal E-Paper Technology to Promote ESG and Energy Saving in Smart Hospitals

October 28, 2024, Taichung – Color cholesteric liquid crystal technology leader, IRIS Optronics, has partnered with Top International Biotech and Green Ideas Technology, to enter the smart healthcare field with its full-color cholesteric liquid crystal e-paper technology. This collaboration has successfully helped medical institutions achieve their energy-saving goals, serving as the best support for advancing towards smart healthcare.

This collaboration utilizes IRIS Optronics' latest "cholesteric" technology to develop a new generation of 27.6-inch color e-paper displays, first showcased at the 42nd anniversary celebration of Taichung Veterans General Hospital. The new generation 27.6-inch color e-paper display features innovative technologies such as support for high-saturation full color, a 1-second low-latency refresh rate, a simple and flexible operating interface, and the avoidance of wireless network interference, setting a new benchmark for next-generation large-format color e-paper displays. Compared to traditional technologies, cholesteric liquid crystal exhibits more significant advantages in large-format applications. It not only presents clear and bright images in any lighting environment but also, with its full-color display capability and fast refresh rate, is particularly suitable for scenarios requiring dynamic displays.

At the 42nd anniversary celebration, Taichung Veterans General Hospital Superintendent Chen Shih-An announced that the hospital was recently selected by Newsweek magazine as one of the World's Top 100 Smart Hospitals for 2025, making it the first hospital in Taiwan to be ranked among the global top 100. Taichung Veterans General Hospital is committed to developing cutting-edge digital equipment and digitizing resources. At this 42nd anniversary celebration, the hospital fully implemented a new generation of 27.6-inch color e-paper displays and a paperless check-in system, developed in collaboration with IRIS Optronics and Top International Biotech, utilizing the latest cholesteric technology. The seminar fully adopted electronic check-in equipment and color e-paper display boards. Taichung Veterans General Hospital is leading Asia in its first-time use of color e-paper for scheduling and lectern screens at an international seminar, achieving a comprehensive paperless goal. This not only fulfills digital transformation but also aligns with the national ESG energy-saving and carbon-reduction policy, serving as a model for the medical community.

IRIS Optronics and Top International Biotech will continue to focus on the medical field. In the future, hospital health education information and registration systems are well-suited for the application of full-color cholesteric liquid crystal e-paper technology. Not only can information be updated in real-time through the internet and hospital backend management systems, reducing the time and waste of past paper-based administrative operations, but the rich color expression of e-paper can also effectively convey correct health education concepts and implement energy-saving policies, establishing a benchmark for future smart healthcare environments. In recent years, Colorlite and its partners have continuously released iteratively innovative products and deployment cases. In the future, they will expand the applications of full-color e-paper by developing larger sizes and higher brightness.
