IRIS Optronics, a leading manufacturer of full-color ChLCD e-Paper technology, announced that it has won the 2026 Japan Digital Signage Award, hosted by the Digital Signage Consortium (DSC), becoming the first overseas company to win the award since its inception.
This award recognizes that IRIS Optronics has redefined the value of digital signage through technological innovation, driving digital signage to shift from "advertising signage" that focuses on attracting attention to "information signage" that focuses on effective information delivery. It also demonstrates the development potential of full-color cholesteric liquid crystal e-Paper in the Japanese commercial display market.
Dr. Albert Liao, Chairman and CEO of IRIS Optronics, stated that IRIS Optronics has long been deeply rooted in the Japanese market. At the end of May, its Tokyo office opened and launched its latest B3-size product. In early June, it won the Japan Digital Electronic Signage Excellence Award, demonstrating the significant recognition of its cholesteric liquid crystal e-Paper in the Japanese commercial display market. The Japan Digital Electronic Signage Award is a major annual award in the Japanese display industry. The judging criteria not only emphasize continuous technological evolution but also focus on "user experience" and "creating social value," indicating that the industry's focus is gradually shifting from simple hardware specifications to practical application benefits. IRIS Optronics' full-color cholesteric liquid crystal e-Paper boasts a 16 million color gamut display and low power consumption, perfectly meeting the expectations of Japanese society for commercial displays. This award is of great significance to IRIS Optronics.
The Japan Digital Signage Awards, organized by the Japan Digital Signage Federation, aim to select and recognize outstanding digital signage entries from publicly submitted submissions, thereby further revitalizing the digital signage market. This year, one grand prize and ten excellence awards will be selected from one hundred entries submitted by DSC members. IRIS Optronics employs a display principle entirely different from traditional electrophoretic e-Paper, achieving high durability and high color saturation display effects. It boasts excellent readability under various lighting conditions and extremely low power consumption. Furthermore, the product can generate its own electricity using solar panels, demonstrating the application potential of self-powered information signage, which was recognized by the judges.
