[September 2, 2024, Shanghai, China] IRIS Optronics, a global leader in Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Display (ChLCD) technology, announced today the establishment of its first overseas subsidiary in Qingpu District, Shanghai. IRIS Optronics will use this as a foundation and one of its key bases to expand the global ChLCD color e-paper market. Following the signing of a strategic alliance agreement with the major U.S. liquid crystal display technology company KDI (Kent Display Inc.) earlier this month, the subsequent establishment of the Shanghai subsidiary fully demonstrates Iris Optronics' determination to actively expand into international markets and deploy globally.

At the opening event the day before yesterday (the 31st), IRIS Optronics also took the opportunity to make a major announcement regarding partnerships with multiple enterprises, including signing strategic cooperation agreements with Era Media and Shanghai's Qingpu District respectively. Both sides will engage in deep cooperation in market expansion and brand promotion to jointly create new market opportunities. Through these partnerships, IRIS Optronics will target application scenarios in smart education, smart retail, and smart transportation in the future, helping to achieve the goals of a paperless society, healthy eye care, and green displays.

Dr. Albert Liao, Chairman of IRIS Optronics, stated: "IRIS Optronics has always adhered to the philosophy of innovation, cooperation, and win-win throughout its journey, earning recognition from numerous partners. We look forward to joining hands with everyone to move toward a better future for cholesteric liquid crystal full-color e-paper." In addition, Chairman Liao believes that the establishment of the Shanghai subsidiary is an important embodiment of IRIS Optronics' path toward innovation. Beyond bringing more development opportunities, it further strengthens IRIS Optronics' competitiveness in the global e-paper market. In the future, IRIS Optronics will target the promotion and application of cholesteric liquid crystal technology-based color e-paper in more fields, while expanding investments in research and development, production, and the market to enhance its core competitiveness and brand influence.

As the world’s only company deeply committed to applying cholesterol liquid crystal technology to color e-paper, IRIS Optronics not only holds more than 170 global patents to date but has also completed a new round of global patent portfolio expansion, with the patent protection period expected to extend through 2045, providing a solid foundation for its global competitiveness. At the event, IRIS Optronics showcased several self-developed color e-paper products, including the latest “27.6-inch Outdoor Full-Color Advertising Display,”which is a spec-upgraded version of the model unveiled at the Touch Taiwan exhibition in April of this year, featuring a twofold increase in contrast ratio and a nearly 50% improvement in color saturation. The company also exhibited its latest 2024 Infinity Display® series, which integrates solar panels to enable self-charging and achieve fully self-sufficient “zero-power operation.” This aligns with ESG standards and further advances the goal of green displays. Moving forward, IRIS Optronics will continue to be driven by innovation, bringing more innovative products and solutions to the global e-paper industry to realize its corporate vision of sustainable development and green displays.
